Abstract

The advent of electronic justice (e-justice) ecosystems has fundamentally reshaped the administration of justice by leveraging digital platforms to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and transparency in legal proceedings. These systems, which include online dispute resolution platforms, e-courts, and digital case management tools, have democratized access to justice for diverse populations. However, the digitization of sensitive legal data introduces complex cybersecurity threats and data protection challenges that threaten the integrity and trustworthiness of these systems. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the interplay between ensuring robust cybersecurity, complying with stringent data protection regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and maintaining equitable access to justice. By integrating case studies, scholarly insights, and practical recommendations, the article proposes a holistic framework to strengthen e-justice ecosystems while safeguarding user trust and inclusivity. The findings emphasize the critical role of encryption, user authentication, continuous risk assessment, and inclusive design in achieving this balance.
